Hush little baby, don't say a word
and never mind that noise you heard.
It's just the beast under your bed
in your closet, in your head.
~Kirk Hammet, Metallica, Enter Sandman
Even monsters need to sleep.
I noticed that all of Dream's fanarts in this community never depicted him wearing his "Helm of Office", or in other words, his helmet. And he does bring along a small bag of sand, as a formality.
Plus his helmet, or at least the design based on Gaiman's novel "Season of Mists" reminded me of a particular favorite monster of mine, so i thought of using it as the subject of Dream's nightly visits.
And what does it dream? How about Ripley on a stick?
My entry for Dream contest. Drawn with Mongol pencil #2 on sketchpad and rendered via Photoshop. Since it took me an accumulated 8 hours doing the sketch vs the one hour of photoshop, i believe it deserves the category Traditional artwork.
Wow! Yes, it definitely belongs to traditional artwork! This is a really awesome concept! Who could have thought that aliens also dream... It's disturbing yet serene, dark but fanciful!
I really like the alien's pose, so natural and so human... it really suggests that he's actually in the middle of a dream(or nightmare ). His body language is so convincing!
The colors really suggest a "dreamy" mood with all the grays... really excellent work!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
