Raz Sputnik Pulp Comics Parodyby ~eva-guy01

This piece was a mix of homage, parody, what if's and plain humor.

It all started in TAGCOM convention, where fellow DA artist Raz

asked me to draw him as a cartoon. I drew a cartoony Johnny Bravo-ish version of him, then on a whim, made him into a retro-futuristic Flash Gordon cum Buck Rogers adventurer.

I gave the art to him of course, but the image lingered on. So just today i had the opportunity to spend an hour in the corner of the office cafeteria and started drawing Raz's

alter ego.

Then soon enough i was inspired by the fact that i have not yet seen ANY form of Russian scifi pulp comic that was so prolific in the US during the Cold War and made a "What If?" scenario, like what if the 1960's Soviet Union actually allowed artists to express their freedom of ideas in comic book form. Naturally they might be inspired by their American counterparts and saw fit to have copied or parodied them.

And parodied I did, by combining all elements which led to the birth of the First Soviet Super Cosmonaut RAZ SPUTNIK!

Added with a bit of inspiration from Flesh Gordon [link] some bits of innuendo, like the Cyborg Virgin Women from Uranus. Yes folks, Raz is here to save Uranus! I had fun designing the Cyborg Virgins.

I even threw in at the last minute Raz's real life best friend Berd

in it so he wont be alone getting them virgins.

So there you have it, a collaboration of ideas that turned out pretty well in my book. Might even inspire me to make the actual comic but thats pretty much wishful thinking.

Robert astiiiig HAHAHA. Some of my friends are actually pushing me to try my hand in comics now, still don't have the confidence in my panel work though.

They're not missiles, but you'd be very surprised on what they can actually do. XD

Regarding paneling, i suggest you start with the basic squares. Eventually you'd loosen up and create bigger spaces or overlapping panels just to accommodate your images. Dont work to hard on the panels. What's important is that you convey your story so that readers actually understand what they are looking at.

Oh no, it must have been accidentally "adopted", or maybe i gave it away to some cute chick. I dont remember anymore.

Im actually thinking of doing the comic. The plot will be full of propaganda and racial/political stereotyping (Kapitalist Hogbogs from the Kracker Kolonies) it will be liberating, but not with enough hatemail to feed a Nazikoffs from the planet Anglo-Saxxonia.

Man, im on a roll. Neways, if i do get to make one, can i sell it at Komikon? Wehehe, no royalties.
